Nawaat and Meshkal share many principles in journalism: a commitment to fact-checking and accuracy, holding the powerful to account, bringing the faces and voices of those unseen and unheard to the public, discovering and highlighting the linkages across social, political, economic, and cultural “boundaries,” and using the craft of storytelling to report the news.

This partnership aims to maximize the practice of freedom of expression and increase public knowledge and understanding of civic engagement issues to build a more thriving and dynamic media sector. Thanks to your support, Nawaat and Meshkal—the only two Tunisia-focused media providing original, quality journalism to English-speaking audiences—will continue to provide context, analysis, and the day-to-day commentary necessary for an informed public. We believe this is especially important in a media environment that is politically polarized and controlled by business lobbies, and where public media is grossly under-resourced.

With this partnership, we will be combining our experience, resources, and talents to produce even more of this kind of journalism. We aim to expand our coverage as well as our roster of reporters. The success of this partnership depends on the engagement and interest of you, our readers; so, we would like to once again thank all of our readers and contributors for helping to build this project with us.
